Alabama) which was to depart Liverpool pursuant to arrangements made by Commander Bulloch in London, for the purpose of transferring guns, ammunition, coal, and other cargo to Alabama. Under the command of Captain Raphael Semmes, the renowned Confederate cruiser Alabama ravaged the seas, dealing serious damage to Union commerce.
