Naval Events:
Captain Taylor, USMC, commanding Fort Washington, wrote Colonel John Harris, Marine Corps Commandant, regarding the "defenseless and pregnable condition" of the Fort. Marshal Kane, in a letter to Baltimore Mayor Berrett, denies that any organization exists to prevent the inauguration of President Lincoln, and says that the president elect would need no armed escort in passing through or sojourning within the limits of Baltimore and Maryland.
